Shopify (Settings > Notifications > Webhooks, event: Checkout Abandoned) and WooCommerce (via REST API or Abandoned Cart plugin). Any other platform that can POST abandoned cart data as JSON also works — the normalisation code handles the field mapping.
Email 1: 1 hour after abandonment — gentle reminder, no discount. Email 2: 24 hours after — 5% off code (you customise the code). Email 3: 72 hours after — 10% final offer code. All timings and copy are fully editable in the workflow.
Create two discount codes in Shopify Admin or WooCommerce before activating the workflow. Set them to "Multiple uses" with no expiry. Then update the COMEBACK5 and SAVE10 references in the Email 2 and Email 3 nodes with your actual codes. The setup guide walks through this.
Out of the box, all three emails send regardless of purchase. You can add an optional purchase check before Email 2 and Email 3 by querying the Shopify Orders API — the setup guide explains this optional step. Most stores find the full 3-email sequence still performs well, as buyers who purchase after Email 1 simply delete the remaining emails.
Klaviyo charges $45/month ($540/year) for the plan that includes abandoned cart flows. This template does the same job for a one-time $69. No per-contact fees, no monthly bills. The only trade-off is Klaviyo has more advanced segmentation — but for abandoned cart recovery, this template handles the core job at a fraction of the cost.
